July 2016 anchoring in the extraordinary waters of La Maddalena Islands in Sardinia we shared a strip of coastline along with about 500 other water craft of every single variety. Some boats felt just a bit too close to us until the next guy came and squeezed his boat in between us and the other guy who was already swinging wildly on his anchor just a stones throw away. Wind, tide, catamaran, heavy keel boat, stink boat, motor launch none of that seemed to matter to anyone but us. But it actually was all fine (lesson here for some aka me) and when all the picnic lunches and empty bottles of wine were stowed we found ourselves, surprisingly, alone in a calm and quiet anchorage. Arrive late and leave early…well in Italy midday is pretty early.
● About Me

I’m Cath. I write most of the blogs unless I can get Rick to join in. I write to share about our sailing life with as much authenticity and honesty as I can. This means more than just the perfect moments. It’s a way to reflect and to remember the unfolding days, the terrifying moments and the things that bring us a sense of awe. I hope you come along for the journey.
